Klausbruckner & Associates attended the biannual International Code council conference in Rochester, NY, USA. Since the changes in the political climate in Sacramento in recent years, California has become very active in the International Fire and Building Codes. Nowhere has this change been more marked than in the number of contingents present from California at the International Code Council Code Development hearings in May 2007 in Rochester, New York. California remained present while highly charged IRC [International Residential Code] code changes such as sprinklers in new single family dwellings were debated and voted on. As the new players in the ICC Code Arena, it will be interesting to watch how California will develop relationships with their counterparts in other states and their comeback as a formidable code development organization.
